We need your help! Session has approved the purchase of new choir robes, using monies from our Memorial Fund, however, we are about $500 short of what is needed. If you would like to contribute to the choir robe fund, please remember to write "new choir robes" on the memo line of your check and drop in the offering plate or send to the church office. We hope to have the new robes by Easter 2007. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

A variety of topics are available like: Parent Problems; Peer Pressure; When Your Spouse is Ill; and Why Prayer is Good Medicine. Please help yourself to any phamphlets which are helpful to you.
Have you Heard? CPC is planning a worktrip to the Gulf Coast for Katrina clean up. The date is the first week in December. If you'd like to be part of the trip, please call the church office for more info. There are many opportunities to get involved, even if you are not planning to travel there.

Our next meeting will be on October 29th at 7:00 p.m. in the church parlor. All interested adults and/or older youth are cordially invited to join us. Call Donna Kadel for more information.
Monday Evening Adult Study starts October 2 and runs for 6 weeks through November 13. The topic of study is, "Jesus, the Bible and Homosexuality: Explode the Myths, Heal the Church" by Rev. Dr. Jack Rogers. Join Pastor Deana and others for what promises to be an insightful and controversial topic.

CPC has been asked to join as partners in providing meals at The Table in 2006. Our CPC team would be the "fifth week" team. In other words, we would cover only the months that contain 5 weeks, and would therefore serve only five times in 2006. Anyone interested in this community service to the homeless and working poor, please contact Kathleen Montgomery. All we need are 7 volunteers, one of whom would coordinate CPC's meal for the day. Please consider serving all five days, but if you can only serve once, please help. The next Covenant rotation is August 31st.
Stewardship News - We want ot thank all of you who have prayerfully and faithfully made a pledge commitment to the ministry and programs of CPC for the upcomming year (2006). To date, we have received approximately $118,000 toward our goal! Many of these pledges reflect an increase of nearly 18% over the previous year's pledge. If you have not yet made your 2006 pledge, there is still time to do so. Again, thanks for your support.
From "Fresh Food" to "Non-Perishable" - it's time to fill up the barrels in the Narthex. The Napa Food Bank deserately needs the following items: cereal, tomato products, canned meats, baby food, bean products, canned fruits & vegetables, soup, pasta, healthy snacks, juice and tuna. Bring your donations to worship on Sunday 12 March for collection.
Meanwhile, the Clothing Center barrel is ready to receive coats and sweaters for the winter months. If you have large quantities of clothing to donate, it can be delivered directly to Church Women United, 2473 Second St. (off California Blvd)
PLEASE REMEMBER to bring special "offerings" of canned goods or non-perishable food items each Sunday. Put your gifts of food into the barrel in the Narthex; all donations are used by the Napa Food Bank to help supplement the needs of families in the Napa Valley who might not have nutritious food on the table without our help. Thank you so much!
Our Local Mission Offering is the shared responsibility of our Deacons and our Mission Outreach & Evangelism Commission and is used in support of local agencies who reach out too people in need in the Napa Valley. Your generous and continued support is greatly appreciated. This morning, please mark a pew envelope "Local Mission" and put your gift in the offering plate.
Following worship, Fairly Traded Coffee and Tea are available for purchase at our Coffee "Hour". Money raised from Fairly Traded coffee supports the laborer, not the CEO! In faithful response to our call to social justice, only Fairly Traded Coffee is served at CPC. It is now available for use in your home. Finally, pour your fresh coffee into a CPC coffee mug; these are also available for purchase at the Fellowship "hour". These attractive mugs serve as a "silent invitation" to come and visit CPC!!
THE 2006 PER CAPITA is $28 per member. As many of you know, our Per Capita commitment supports the work of General Assembly, Synod, and Presbytery. This year, the distribution is as follows: $5.57 to General Assembly; $5.17 to the Synod; and $17.26 to the Presbytery of the Redwoods. If you are able to contribute the amount of your own Per Capita, please mark your check "per capita" on the memo line. Each church within the Presbyterian denomination is responsible for the full amount based on our current membership, so your help will be greatly appreciated.
Church Women United Clothing Center needs your help! CPC participates in this outreach to those in need by donating good, useable clothing. (You all know that is what the barrel in the Narthex is for, right?) The Clothing Center recently sent an update to participating churches and agencies, commenting "We have been blessed with generous donations from the community in our endeavor to provide free, used clothing to the needy of Napa County." In 2004, 9,239 clients were served through the Clothing Center. Thirty-four children received new shoes and sixty-eight uniforms were provided.
At this time the Center is asking especially for children's clothes, especially children's socks and underwear. In the cold weather, warm clothing (in all sizes!) is always appreciated. Thank you for your continued support.
WAYS TO HELP FIGHT HUNGER!! CPC has been a "partner" in providing free, hot meals to Napa's most vulnerable by providing nutritious casseroles to be served at the downtown First Presbyterian Church through a program known as The Table. Pick up empty casseroles (in the Narthex or the Fellowship Hall), prepare your favorite recipe at home, then, deliver the casserole to First Pres., 1333 Third Street, weekdays from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. OR, Help stop hunger through your generous and on-going support of the Two-Cents-A-Meal program. Just put an empty soup can on your dining table and put "two-cents" into this temporary bank every time you enjoy a meal in your home!! On the second Sunday of every month, bring your special Two-Cents-A-Meal offerings to be received as part of our worship service. Thank you so much for your care and compassion.
COVENANT NEEDS 1 to 2 more sound technicians to provide sound support each Sunday to create a team of 4-6 people who are willing to serve as our Sanctuary Sound Team. We want men and/or women, high school age and older, and prefereably people who at least know how to set the clock on their VCR. Following your training, you will be asked to serve approximately 6 to 8 times during an entire year. The job is not complicated; in a one hour training session you can learn all the basics you need to know to do a terrific job and, you will provide a service that enables everyone who attends worship to hear the entire service clearly and distinctly. (Of course, you will also have "power" over the pulpit and lectern microphones!) Please let pastor Deana Reed or Art Morris know (today!) - or call the church office, 255-9426 - if you are willing to try your hand at this important and helpful area of service. THANKING you in advance, The Worship Commission.
Child Care is available for infants through 3-years in our play room/nursery located in Fellowship Hall or, you may choose to retreat with a fussy child to the sound-resistant "Cry Room" at the rear of the sanctuary. Children are always welcome in worship experience and, if you wish, you may keep them with you during the service. Ushers can assist you with directions to the child care rooms.
The flower arrangements we enjoy each week are made possible by Kathleen Montgomery. Many thanks to Kathleen for the beauty they bring to our worship service. Please consider a small contribution to the Flower Fund to keep this tradition going.
The third Sunday of each month is the deadline for articles for the Crier, Covenant's newsletter. Please get your news items to the editors, Ted & Jan Lassagne. Your input is appreciated.
