The Rev. Deana J. Reed was ordained to ministry of Word and Sacrament in 1987 at First Presbyterian Church in Napa, California where she served as Associate Pastor for over 7 years. Upon leaving the downtown church, she journeyed to Washington D.C. where she served as Interim Pastor of an urban church, Westminster Presbyterian in the S.W. quadrant of the city, just below the mall. A call from Christ Presbyterian Church in San Rafael brought her back to Northern California in 1996. Deana (pronouned Dee-na), has lived in Northern California since 1983 (apart from her time in D.C.). Her seminary training was completed in the spring of 1987 at San Francisco Theolgical Seminary.
Deana has lived in many parts of our country during her adult years as she has ministered to the church as a college chaplain/evangelist before becoming a Presbyterian minister. A native Oregonian, Deana grew up on the central Oregon coast in Lincoln City. Deana's family resides in Monmmouth, Oregon. Travel in an interfaith setting to Israel, and time in Sri Lanka and Thailand have shaped Deana's understanding of this global village we share with God's greater family. Her background includes a degree in Forestry from Oregon State University, with an emphasis in Environmental Education and Interpretation, and a degree in Elementary Education which includes graduate training in Deaf Education. Presently, she is involved in a Doctor of Ministry program at SFTS with an emphasis in preaching and will be completing that while she is in ministry with Covenant Presbyterian Church. Recreation includes travel to national parks for hiking and camping. Kayaking on the Bay, or any body of water draws Deana from her church office to God's great outdoors. Biking is a pastime she hopes to re-establish as part of her regular routine. Deana has also been active in working on behalf of more vulnerable members of society and brings that interest to her ministry at Covenant. Particular interests include at-risk youth, developmentally disabled and the variety of needs our children face in this day. |
