Pastoral Ponderings

“This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!”

I hope you are finding yourself rejoicing as you consider the love and grace that surrounds your life.

We are stepping into a season of celebrating the 50th Anniversity of  Covenant Presbyterian Church!  Back in the early 60’s several churches were “planted” in the Presbytery of the Redwoods and CPC was one of those.  Already St Luke in San Rafael and Knox in Santa Rosa have celebrated anniversaries and now it’s our turn.

Our actual birthday is early October, but we are going to celebrate this summer.  Here are some of the highlights as we approach our celebration weekend, August 10th and 11th.

50 years is a milestone - a time for celebration!  Whether it is the church of our own lives, birthdays and anniversaries, give us a chance to remembers days (years) gone by as we look ahead to the horizon before us.

Beginning July 7th, join me in covenant Hall following worship.  Each Sunday someone will share turning points of theier faith with us.  This will be similar to our “Lenten Faith Stories”.  For 5 Sundays we will be circulsing our chairs in the Hall to listen as a story unfolds.  I can’t wait to hear these stories!

By now you have probably received your invitation to the 50th Anniversary Party!  The planning committee is busy getting ready for a wonderful weekend.  You can participate in the story telling and memory gathering, by using the 1/2 sheet that came in your invitation.  Please take a few moments to write some reflections and send that into the church.  We are going to gather and compile your many thoughts.

Saturday, August 10th, we will gather together with lots of people who have been a part of CPC over the years.  Some have moved away, some are nearby - so be sure and save the date and plan on joining the reunion!  We will look forward to hearing from former pastors and interens as we reflect on the years we have shared with one another!  Dinner will be wonderful as conversation abounds.

Then, Sunday morning we will gather for worship as we givethanks to God for hte first 50 years of CPC’s life of worship and ministry and look ahead to the next 50.

EUREKA!  We’re Fifty - How Nifty

We hope to have a great reunion weekend and hope you’ll come along and join the celebration.

In Christ’s Care,

Deana
