We invite you to join us in worship and celebration.
At Covenant, we believe that worship is one of the main ways that God forms and shapes us as a community. We hope that you will find worship at Covenant lively, engaging, and personal. Many members of our community actively participate in worship leadership.
In worship, we acknowledge God present in the world and in our lives. As we begin worship, we gather together in joy and praise, with a Call to Worship and with singing. Then, together, we confess our brokenness, and lean into the Good News of God’s forgiveness in Jesus Christ. At the heart of our worship we listen for what God is saying to God’s church. We listen for God’s word, not only in scripture reading and preaching, but also in a time for young worshippers and in choral anthems. Re-energized and equipped by God’s Spirit, we then move out of worship into service in and for the world.
Children and youth are an important part of our life of worship. Our children and youth gather with the whole congregation for worship. Usually just before the sermon, we share together a “Time for Young Worshippers,” for children, youth, and people of any age who are young at heart. After the Time for Young Worshippers, children through 8th grade usually attend Sunday School. Our older youth remain in worship. Our teenagers share in worship leadership, with some of them singing in the choir and some serving as worship leaders.
Immediately following worship, we invite you to join us Covenant Hall for refreshments every Sunday – on the third Sunday of each month we celebrate birthdays and anniversaries with pastries and cake. We hope that this time together offers an opportunity to get to know members of the Covenant community and to learn more about our life together in community.
We have special services and programs during the seasons and celebrations of the church year. During December, our Advent worship services include a "Hanging of the Greens," and a choral cantata, along with special Advent programming. In the spring, we journey together through the season of Lent, as we move towards Holy Week, the cross of Good Friday, and the good news of Easter and resurrection!!!
